About the Diablo 300 (with DAC)

An integrated amp with 300W (doubling to 600 into 4 Ohms), with a low 0.019-ohm output impedance equals serious speaker grip. And those sort of figures point to a serious power supply – which it has (try picking it up). The pre-amp functions are distilled down from the top end of the Gryphon range, and boy they are lovely. Then add an onboard DAC too, and you have a brilliant performing solution without a high box count. The DAC section uses the brilliant ESS Sabre ES9018 chipset and is configured here for USB, AES/EBU and optical operation. 


A truly great machine that remains at the pinnacle of integrated amplifier design. Ideed, hook up a good digital feed, and plumb into some strong speakers and you have to ask yourself "who needs more?"

In terms of sound quality, this Diablo is just great – truly great. Just flick around all of the reviews on the web to get an idea. And even when you've read about it, it still comes as a bit of a shock when you plonk one into your own system and listen. It's strong, very strong, but immediately you are hit by it's musicality too. Here at Winters, it's always our go-to for a quick setup with any type of speaker – for obvious reasons because it will drive anything. Then after the demo, someone says "have you heard this new album ....", and we relax, listen, and let the fireworks fly. Honestly, we often laugh at how musical this integrated amp is – and the hi-fi speak soon gets replaced by hours of "well if you like that track, what do you think of this". That says it all really.
