ATALANTE 3

About The ATALANTE 3

ATALANTE 3 is a reflex-loaded, two-way bookshelf speaker of moderate proportions. It is equipped with the in-house designed 28mm soft-dome tweeter, with its built-in ARID (Anti Reflection Inner Dome) technology and specialized back-chamber design that significanly lowers rear energy intermodulation and standing waves. And Revival Audio's BSC (Basalt Sandwich Construction) 18cm woofer, delivering the best balance between rigidity, low-weight and damping to provide a fast, smooth responses with tight bass dynamics.

The ATALANTE 3 is a very deceptive design. Although it might look a lot like a typical small two-way speaker, it sounds nothing like those other examples out there. And the reason for this is the way the Revival Audio engineers have tackled two major things: the design and materials of the drivers themselves, and the technology to control the acoustic energy behind the drivers.

The listening experience with the Atalante 3 is a revelation. In small to medium size rooms these speakers throw a huge soundstage. The sound is strong, well defined, and laid out all around the listener. The musicality is there too, as is the ability to make the most out of poorer recordings. The experience is simply immersive, transporting the listener straight to the recording venue.

Tech Insight

The guys at Revival Audio treat the domes of their tweeter and midrange drivers with a bespoke doping/damping material they call RASC. After hundreds of hours of experimentation and listening tests, this coating recipe is claimed to bring perfect damping and break-up control, resulting in great tonal accuracy with a smooth and open sound.

Matching & Setup

The ATALANTE 3 is a very refined bookshelf/standmount speaker. Naturally because of it's size it does not extend to the lowest depths of bass, but is capable of producing a much 'larger' sound than you might expect. This speaker's 87dB sensitivity is considered around average but the 4 Ohm impedance should be noted as that might not best match solid state amps below about 30 Watts (for smaller rooms, see below). With more power though, say around 100-150 Watts, these speakers really shine. A good 30 Watt valve amp with output taps set to 4 Ohms is also  an excellent match.

Best suited to smaller rooms, these speakers work very well on shelves in a high-quality 'second' system in an office say, or on stands in a main system in a smaller room. They are very easy to position but do benefit from fine position adjustment to really bring their incredible imaging into focus. If you are looking to stand mount then we recommend the matching Revival Audio Stands.
