"The Artistic Intent, Intact"

This TAD strap line says everything you need to know about the listening experience. Masses of detail and precision for sure, but with passion and emotion in equal measure too, creating a truly rewarding sound.

About The Micro Evolution One

Don't for one minuite think that this speaker sounds small. It has as much heart and sole as it's bigger siblings and because of it's genuine three-way design and amazingly clever slooted ports on each side of the cabinet (see below), it can fill even quite large rooms with an astonishingly rich and gripping soundscape. The very high quality TAD dual concentric midrange and tweeter driver is highly accurate with astonishing clarity and pinpoint imaging. The midrange is glorious as its not hampered by intermodulation from lower frequencies that are sent to the dedicated woofers. And those woofers are rigid, well damped with a very linear magnetic circuit so they offer rich bass detail with no noticeable lumpiness or bass overhang.

An innovative approach to achieving ideal sound for the Evolution Micro is the Bi-Directional Aerodynamic Slot (ADS) Ports. Slit-shaped ports are positioned on both of the enclosure’s side panels with flared openings to the front and rear. The symmetrical front-back, left-right layout is said to eliminate the effects of unwanted sound from the port as well as standing waves within the enclosure.

Matching & Setup

Although these speakers can be used on bookshelves, we really can't recommend they are used like that – they're just too good to be compromised in that way. Only use good stands and the matching TAD stands suit the speaker so well that really, they are the best choice. Sensitivity is a little below average and with a 4 Ohm impedance, smaller amplifiers are best avoided. Good solid-state dezigns of 60W+ or a good 40W+ valve amp with 4 Ohm taps are a sensible starting point.

Brilliant for small to medium sized rooms, the Micro Evolution One works best when it can be positioned accurately; finding the sweetspot for frequency balance and accurate imaging brings spectacular rewards, laying out the real benefits of TAD's incredible design in a way that few othe stand mounts can get close to. Simply fantastic.
